High Cholesterol May Cause Prostate Cancer Development |
|
According to general medical opinion regarding causes of prostate cancer, the risk factors are age, ethnic history and family background.
But recently, a research study have found that high cholesterol levels speed up the growth of prostate tumours. This conclusion may help to find an explanation regarding the fact prostate cancer is more frequent in the West world than in Asian countries because of diets high in cholesterol. For instance, in rural parts of Japan and China, where people use low fat diets, rates of prostate cancer are up to 90% less than in the West countries. It is also a reality that in United States prostate cancer hits about one in every six men.

Testosterone and Prostate Cancer |
|
Everyone should know that when testosterone is metabolized, it produces DHT as one of the by-products, which is what allows your muscles and erections to grow. That is a good thing! However, DHT that doesn't get burned up during sex or working out is also what is at the root of your prostate problems to begin with. The fact of the matter is that DHT is always being produced, and a lot of us simply cannot burn it off fast enough--no matter how much we work out in the gym or how much sex we have. In the case of prostate problems, one camp blames a lack of testosterone while the other camp blames too much of it. I have even heard of a doctor suggesting castration as a means of preventing... |

What Causes Prostate Cancer - The True Environmental Factors Behind The Problem
Author:
Dean Iggo
What causes prostate cancer? The world around you. Doctors and scientists are starting to take note of the environmental factors as a serious cancer risk, and the cancer prevention techniques many suggest may not always be possible depending on where you live. What Environmental Factors Can Put You At Risk? Many scientists have begun to link the occupation of farming to prostate cancer in an attempt to answer the “What causes prostate cancer” question. Why farmers? There are several reasons that farmers might have a higher risk of prostate cancer than other occupations. One reason farmers might have a higher susceptibility to conditions like prostate cancer is some of the chemicals they use in their daily jobs. Pesticides and growth enhancers have both been linked to problems with the human body, and because these chemicals have not been existence long enough to complete long term studies on their effects on the human body, it is quite possible that they are the reason for the higher risk to farmers. Another possible reason to the answer “What causes prostate cancer” in terms of those in the farm industry is engine exhaust. Farmers work around many different kinds of vehicles, and the fumes each engine puts off places them at a higher risk of exposure to dangerous chemicals that cause the body to overload with toxins, creating conditions like prostate cancer. Farming, though, is not the only risk profession in terms of cancers. Another high risk profession for prostate cancer is mining. Most miners have high levels of cadmium exposure at some point in their careers. While many people are exposed to cadmium, few are exposed at the rate most miners are. Because this can get into your blood stream through your pores, it can also cause serious problems with organs and glands like the prostate. What causes prostate cancer? We may never know for sure, but environmental factors may be putting you at risk. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned about your risk factors. The uncontrolled growth of cells around the outer region of the prostate, which gives rise to the development of a malignant tumor, is called prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is common among American males. Over 250,000 cases are diagnosed in the United States every year. Early signs of prostate cancer are difficult to detect. Symptoms only set in once the tumor spreads. Change in urination habits with increased frequency or dribbling are the first signs of prostate cancer. The cancer may spread from the prostate to nearby lymph nodes, bones or other organs, leading to a condition called metastasis. As a result, some men experience back pain. Once the cancer spreads beyond the prostate it is difficult to cure. The growth of prostate cancer is relatively slow and may not be detected for many years. It also takes longer to spread beyond the prostate. However, a small percentage of patients experience more rapidly growing, aggressive forms of prostate cancer. Unfortunately, it is difficult to know for sure which prostate cancers will grow slowly and which will grow aggressively; this further complicates treatment decisions. The presence of cancer cells around the prostate determines the extent to which the cancer has spread. It affects the areas surrounding the prostate such as the seminal vesicle, lymph nodes, rectum and bones. Even when prostate cancer spreads to other areas, such as the bone, it is still considered to be prostate cancer and not bone cancer. A variety of causes and contributing factors lead to prostate cancer. The major risk factors are age, race and family history. The chances of prostate cancer increase after the age of 50. The incidence of prostate cancer in Asian men is the lowest. Caucasian and African American men are the largest groups... |
